With chiming guitars and palpitating drums, Wade Bowen takes an assured step back into independent music. Loose, jangling gem "When I Woke up Today" finds Bowen proclaiming, "When you wake with a pain of trying to make a dream fly/ Taking the good and the bad with a big smile... But I'd have to say, I'm feeling pretty good today" -- and this feeling is pervasive throughout. "Sun Shines on a Dreamer" tells of a Los Angeles transplant who finds love at the grocery store, while the darker, psychedelic-tinged "I'm Gonna Go" emanates a steely determination when taking the road less traveled.
