Bennett & Brubeck: The White House Sessions, Live 1962
Sony keeps finding cool items in their vaults. Here it's a complete concert for JFK's summer interns that included sets by Dave Brubeck and Tony Bennett, alone and together. Brubeck's group gives an uptempo version of "Take Five" and other selections from their repertoire; Bennett's band finds their comfort-crooning zone on cuts like "Rags to Riches." Most interesting are the last four tracks (three debuting here), where Brubeck's trio plays with Bennett. These performances have a more exciting air about them (see "There Will Never Be Another You"). A worthy addition to multiple legacies.
