Switchfoot switch the tassel, as it were, from freshmen prodigies to rock-schooled upperclassmen. With a new label and two years since their last release, the band boasts a new level of bravado here, with more sophisticated composition, bolder (yet just as ingenious) lyrics, and inimitable, romping vocals. "Stars" is an exceptional homerun of hooks.
