About Suresh Wadkar

Wadkar is a Marathi singer who gained fame singing for Hindi films in the 1970s and '80s. His fairytale story started when he won a singing competition that was being judged by film composers Jaidev and Jaidev. They loved his voice and found him work, and Wadkar then went on to sing for Lata Mangeshkar in person. She was immediately impressed and lobbied for him. While Wadkar's career has slowed down in recent years, he has composed for and sung in a few Marathi-language films. Sarah Bardeen
