Go Down Ol' Hannah
Label: Bloodshot Records
If you dig outlaw country rockers growling about death, booze and madness, then Scott H. Biram is the man for you. The Texan's third album for Bloodshot Records opens with an answering machine message. It's Biram begging a friend to help him escape the hospital, where he's "tied down" and being "held prisoner." This would feel like cheap drama if the dude couldn't write tunes like "Still Drunk, Still Crazy, Still Blue." If Waylon had recorded this back in '75, it'd be one of his classic anthems.
