Though Phish are considered the kings of the 1990s jam-band scene, the bulk of their studio recordings favor relatively tight song structures over open-ended noodles. 1991's A Picture of Nectar, the group's second major-label album, opens with one of their top calling cards, "Llama." From there, the band navigates an obstacle course of sonic eccentricity, funky fun and top-shelf musicianship. Though Phish is often compared to The Dead, A Picture of Nectar is most reminiscent of Zappa.
