All My Life
With vocals and lyrics unusually humane for metal, Mustasch have seen recent albums go top 10 in Finland and their home, Sweden. But though their sea-chantey-melodied songs remain strong, their good humor has dissipated. Ralf Gyllenhammar sounds supremely bummed in "Feared and Hated" and "All My Life," looking back at being pushed around and hiding others' sins. "The Mauler" even feels kind of nasty, in a Danzig way. But "Lowlife Highlights" and the not entirely true "I Hate to Dance" get a chunky Billy Idol-goes-industrial rhythm going, setting out for the sleaze that makes life worth living anyway.
