The dignified one's first album in seven years finds plenty of desperate comedy amidst truly heartfelt odes to his new home in America and his English past. The songs carry a glammy punch, with the folksier ballads driven by his undiminished, unmistakable croon. "First of the Gang to Die" is Morrissey in top form.
