El Arte de la Elegancia de LFC
Label: Nacional Records
Like La Luz Del Ritmo, released only eight months before, these veteran Argentines' second 2009 album mixes re-recorded selections from early in their career, new tunes and a covered classic -- in this case, a congafied take on Curtis Mayfield's 1970 "Move On Up." The originals vary Los Cadillacs' Latin-rocking ska bounce with plenty of soul as well: Motown basslines in "Lanzallamas," disco synths in "Tanto Como Un Dios," funk wah-wah in "Surfer Calavera." And as usual, they get even more eclectic from there; "CJ" could almost pass for something from a Fellini soundtrack.
