The acoustic guitar that opens "Tomorrow Is Gonna Be Better" resembles Nirvana's "Polly." Radin's voice, however, doesn't sound like Cobain's, more like Elliott Smith meets Nick Drake. These names should give you an idea of Underwater's emotional temperament: moody, hushed, melancholic. In all honesty, Radin hasn't changed his style much since his music crept on to Scrubs some years back. That said, several tunes, including "Here's Where We Begin" and the title track, sport novel string arrangements that feel as if they were lifted from a Tim Hardin album. They're really rather striking.
