Love in the Middle of a Firefight
Dillon Francis loves to play like he's EDM's class clown, and he keeps up appearances on his debut album; it's full of zany energy, cartoonish samples and tongue-in-cheek titles (like the otherwise heartfelt Daft Punk homage "Drunk All the Time"). His antic bounce even has a touch of whoopee cushion to it (see "What's That Spell?"). But he's a pro at heart. That applies to roping in the right collaborators (Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Major Lazer, The Presets, Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie) and covering the requisite stylistic spread, from trap to moombahton to emo-tinged electro-pop.
