Concierto de Aranjuez: Adagio
Miles Davis' detached trumpet style meshed seamlessly with Gil Evans' brittle arrangements, which often evoked desert landscapes, a sense of danger and missed opportunities. Here, the duo bring their own personalities to bear on a selection of Spanish folk/classical tunes, which originally caused an uproar among bop purists. When asked if this was really jazz, Miles responded, "It's music, and I like it." Amen. This expanded, remastered edition comes with a bonus disc of rehearsals and alternates, including a live reading of "Concierto de Aranjuaz."
