With the Cure's Robert Smith replacing ex-Magazine John McGeoch on guitar, the Banshees become more mainstream here without losing any of their cutting-edge elements. The cover of "Dear Prudence" was a major hit throughout Europe and helped make this 1984 release the band's first charting U.S. album. "Swimming Horses" is another lovely gothic (in the classic sense of the word) stunner. This remastered edition features two demo versions and an undeniable orchestral remix of "Dazzle" that pretty much defines the post-punk sound.
