The Bluegrass Album
Label: Alan Jackson - BlueGrass Album
"I've wanted to make this bluegrass album for a long time," says Jackson as he signs off during closer "Blue Moon of Kentucky," and if you know anything about the "Murder on Music Row" neo-trad, that shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Bluegrass Album, fittingly, finds Jackson in a retrospective search for pastoral, ambiguously defined freedom. On one song ("Ain't Got Trouble Now") it means losing the girl and riding solo, then on the next ("Blue Ridge Mountain Song") it involves finding everlasting love. With clean production from longtime partner Keith Stegall, both sound equally warm.
